Partially Isometric Dilations of Noncommuting N-tuples of Operators

Given a row contraction of operators on Hilbert space and a family of projections on the space which stabilize the operators, we show there is a unique minimal joint dilation to a row contraction of partial isometries which satisfy natural relations. For a fixed row contraction the set of all dilations forms a partially ordered set with a largest and smallest element. A key technical device in ...

A new functional calculus for noncommuting operators

In this paper we use the notion of slice monogenic functions [2] to define a new functional calculus for an n-tuple T of not necessarily commuting operators. This calculus is different from the one discussed in [5] and it allows the explicit construction of the eigenvalue equation for the n-tuple T based on a new notion of spectrum for T . Our functional calculus is consistent with the Riesz-Du...

Generalized Scalar Operators as Dilations

It is shown that polynomially bounded operators on Banach spaces have polynomially bounded dilations which have spectrum in the unit circle and are generalized scalar. The proof also yields a description of all compressions of generalized scalar operators with spectrum in the unit circle.

Functions of Perturbed Noncommuting Self-adjoint Operators

Abstract. We consider functions f(A,B) of noncommuting self-adjoint operators A and B that can be defined in terms of double operator integrals. We prove that if f belongs to the Besov class B ∞,1 (R), then we have the following Lipschitz type estimate in the trace norm: ‖f(A1, B1)− f(A2, B2)‖S1 ≤ const(‖A1 −A2‖S1 + ‖B1 −B2‖S1). However, the condition f ∈ B ∞,1 (R) does not imply the Lipschitz ...

Subspace-diskcyclic sequences of linear operators

A sequence ${T_n}_{n=1}^{infty}$ of bounded linear  operators on a separable infinite dimensional Hilbert space $mathcal{H}$ is called subspace-diskcyclic with respect to the closed subspace $Msubseteq mathcal{H},$ if there exists a vector $xin mathcal{H}$ such that the disk-scaled orbit ${alpha T_n x: nin mathbb{N}, alpha inmathbb{C}, | alpha | leq 1}cap M$ is dense in $M$. The goal of t...
